Women's Team: 2018/19 Season Summary

16 May 2019

We take a look back at our Women's Team's excellent 2018/19 campaign and the final standings in the NERWFL Premier Division.

Pools Women’s Team finished in their highest-ever position at the end of 2018/19, securing a runners-up spot behind Durham Cestria in the Premier Division.

Durham were deserved champions after winning all 18 of their fixtures during the past campaign, though Pools did well to finish only 11 points behind them.

Jonathan Gibbon-Hayes’ side tasted defeat only three times throughout 2018/19 – two of those to rivals Durham, of course – and will now hope to build on that during the new campaign.

There is a real sense of optimism that the Women’s Team can go one better next time around and compete for a place in the National League – the fourth tier of the women’s game – for the first time.

Pre-season plans are coming together, with a number of exciting friendlies already pencilled in against the likes of Leeds United, Newcastle United, Sunderland and Bolton Wanderers.
