Hignett: Anderson Is Model Professional

22 May 2019

Craig Hignett was delighted to see Myles Anderson agree terms on a new deal with the Club, becoming the third player so far to sign up.

And, while the Pools boss is pleased that Anderson will be available for selection in his team again next term, Hignett admitted he is as important to the squad for his attitude off the pitch as on it,

“Myles is just the right sort of character really.

“He had a good season for us, he is very solid but it is his character and professionalism that will hopefully rub off on the younger lads.

“He is one of the best professionals I have come across either when I was playing or in management.”

With his professional approach off the pitch impressing the Manager, Anderson’s tougher attitude on it is another big plus for Hignett,

“As a defender and especially with the type of defender he is, now and again you are going to get whacks and he got a real severe one to his face in the Orient game.

“But he didn’t let that affect him, if anything he got better. It toughened him up and made him realise that he had to be a bit ruthless himself.

“He’s learned that you have to look after yourself a bit and he was better for it.”
