We continue our look back on the 2018/19 campaign and today we move in to an encouraging second month.
Making The Headlines
With a steady line-up in attack, Jake Cassidy was allowed to move on and the front man made the long-distance loan to National League rivals Maidstone United.
Off the pitch, there was success for HUDSA (the Club’s Disabled Supporters’ Association) when they received the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary in a special presentation at The Super 6 Stadium.
High Point
Solihull Moors had lost just once in 17 games on their own patch when Pools arrived at Damson Park in September for what was arguably the toughest task of the season so far.
An injury to Moors front man Adi Yussuf coupled with an early red card for influential midfielder Kyle Storer put the hosts on the back foot but Pools went on to control the game.
Liam Noble’s second half curler was worthy of winning any fixture and Pools could even have enjoyed a more handsome margin of victory had they been more ruthless in front of goal.
Low Point
Pools gave as good as they got when they travelled to big-spending Salford City in the penultimate game of September – but were undone during a crazy 11-minute period in the second half.
Matthew Bates’ men looked pretty comfortable and could even have been in front before conceding three quickfire goals to hand the initiative to the home side at The Peninsula Stadium.
Goal Of The Month Winner
Nicky Featherstone became the unlikely winner of our Super 6 Goal of the Month for the second month running, fighting off completion from Liam Noble.
The midfield man’s stunning left-footed drive in to the top corner during Pools 2-1 win at FC Halifax Town earned the largest amount and landed him the accolade once again.
