Luke Waterfall

Luke Waterfall appointed Club Captain

Hartlepool United are delighted to announce Luke Waterfall as the Club’s new captain for the 2024/25 season.

The defender takes over the armband from Nicky Featherstone, who has moved into a player-coach role for the new campaign.

Waterfall, who holds 600 career appearances, joined Pools back in January and has played 15 games so far at Victoria Park.

The centre-back previously captained Lincoln City to the National League title in 2017, before leading Grimsby Town to promotion via the play-offs in 2022.

Upon making the appointment, Pools manager Darren Sarll stated:

“Luke is an archetypical leader. His voice, his demeanour, his professionalism – all those things go into him being a really good leader. He plays with that authority, and we want to make sure myself and the Club are reflected in the captain. He’s got a huge responsibility but he’s done it several times before in his career. When Luke Waterfall leads a team out the tunnel, I want us to feel strong and powerful, and he sets the tone.”
