Loan Watch: Onariase scores for Maidenhead

Manny Onariase was on the scoresheet for Maidenhead United this weekend as the Magpies claimed a big win in their quest for survival.

It was a goal and clean sheet for the Pools centre-back, on loan at Alan Devonshire’s outfit.

Away to play-off placed Gateshead, Onariase opened the scoring on 15 minutes with a header from Nathan Ferguson’s deep free-kick.

Shawn McCoulsky made it 2-0 late on, as Maidenhead jumped out of the relegation places and into 19th place.

Joe Aungiers was left as an unused substitute for Whitby Town, as Gary Liddle’s side claimed a 1-0 home win over Basford United.

Whitby sit 18th in the Northern Premier League Premier Division table, four points above the drop zone.

In the East Division, Academy defender Tye Grundle was named on the bench as Bishop Auckland fell to a 2-1 defeat to Cleethorpes Town.

Ossett United lost 3-1 to Heaton Stannington, with Pools striker Alfie Steel coming on after 65 minutes for the Sheepicorns.

Josh Mazfari claimed his 23rd clean sheet of the season for Redcar Athletic in Northern League Division One.

The Pools keeper was in action on Friday night for the Steelmen, who secured a 3-0 win over Northallerton Town to strengthen their hold on top spot.

Finally, two Hartlepool loanees were in action for West Auckland Town.

Max Storey started and Charlie Berry came off the bench in the first half as West fell to a 4-1 defeat at Birtley Town.

The result leaves West 13th in Northern League Division One, with their management team departing on Sunday afternoon.
