You would have to back 95 years ago to find our first meeting with the Minstermen. Pools would be victorious in this meeting, with goals from Albert Pape, Frank Barson and Jimmy Thompson.
Bill Norman was in the dugout for Pools, who were then under the guise of Hartlepools United.
FA Cup Memories
Pools 3-1 York City, 9th December 1987
A double from Andy Toman and a goal from Paul Baker secured a third-round spot for Pools after beating York 3-1 in the second round replay.
Pools would go on to play Luton Town in the third round, and that is where they would exit the competition.

League Two Victory
Pools 2-1 York City, 16th April 2016
The last time Pools faced the Minstermen in the Football League was back in 2016.
Craig Hignett’s side would come out victorious winning 2-1, helped with goals from Nathan Thomas and Michael Woods.
That would be the last time Pools faced York City in the Football League, as the Minstermen would be relegated to the National League that same season.

Magic from Mani
Pools 2-1 York City, 27th January 2024
Eighteen minutes from full time, the two sides were deadlocked at the Prestige Group stadium.
With the game petering out, up stepped Mani Dieseruvwe who stole the headlines with a late brace. An 87th minute penalty claimed all three points for Pools; a win that would end York City’s eight-game unbeaten league run.

Last Time Out
York City 5-3 Pools, 9th November 2024
Pools were beaten 5-3 by York in an eight-goal thriller at the LNER Community Stadium when the sides last met.
It was Lennie Lawrence’s first game in permanent charge of Pools with David Ferguson, Luke Charman and Mani Dieseruvwe the scorers that day for Hartlepool.
