First words: Terry Bondo

Terry Bondo believes Hartlepool United is the perfect place to take the next step in his career, with the Club’s ambition matching his own desire to make an impact in senior football.

The forward has arrived at Victoria Park following his departure from Blackpool and is eager to hit the ground running as Lee Clark’s side prepares for the new season.

Speaking for the first time as a Pools player, Bondo explained how conversations with the Club’s management team made his decision an easy one.

“I’m buzzing to be here,” he said.

“As soon as the interest came through, I instantly knew this was where I wanted to be because the plan they have really fits me.

“I’m just ready to hit the ground running and get going.”

Bondo met with manager Lee Clark, goalkeeping coach Chris Maxwell and Chief Executive Chris Beech before completing the move, with Hartlepool’s ambition proving a major factor in his decision.

“I had a meeting with Lee Clark, Chris Maxwell and Chris Beech, and they spoke to me about how they want to progress as a football club,” he explained.

“They’re looking for promotion and it’s my job, especially as an attacker, to help the team achieve that goal however I can.”

Pools supporters can expect an energetic and versatile forward, with Bondo outlining the qualities he hopes to bring to the side.

“I love to run in behind because I know my ability and I know I’m quick,” he said.

“But I can also come short, link the play and bring other players into the game. I just want to help the team however I can.”

Having impressed at academy level, the 20-year-old feels the time is right to test himself in senior football.

“I feel like I’m at the stage of my career where I want to show everyone what I can do,” he said.

“I’ve proved myself at Under-18s and Under-21s level, and now I want to come into the men’s game and show that I’m good enough to play at this level.”

The opportunity to play in front of the Blue & White Army is another challenge Bondo is relishing.

“I’m really excited,” he added.

“It’ll be my first time properly playing in front of fans like these, and I’ve heard the atmosphere really gets going.

“I can’t wait to get out there and show the fans what I can do.”
