Featherstone becomes HGT Player Advocate

Hartlepool United are proud to announce Nicky Featherstone as our new Her Game Too player advocate.

The Pools player-coach, who sits sixth in the Club’s all-time appearance list, will undertake the advocate role to further strengthen and promote the Her Game Too campaign.

The Club have partnered with Her Game Too for nearly three years, with the aim to challenge stereotypes and foster a more inclusive environment within the game.

On his player advocate role, Nicky Featherstone stated:
“I’m really pleased to join the Her Game Too team at Hartlepool United – it’s a campaign the Club have worked closely with over the last few years. We want to take huge strides in stopping the discrimination that comes unnecessarily with the game. I want to be a part of females feeling confident and proud of playing and watching the game we all love.”

Hartlepool United’s Her Game Too ambassador, Jill Simmonds, added:
“I’m delighted to announce that club legend Nicky Featherstone has agreed to be our new Her Game Too player advocate. Player and manager advocates are crucial in championing the message of equality. Their influential voices and visible positions can challenge long-standing stereotypes and inspire widespread change both within the football and in broader society.

“They help to foster a more inclusive environment, ensuring that the message of equality reaches a diverse and extensive audience. They also serve as positive role models to fans who might not yet believe in gender equality in football, demonstrating through their actions and words that fairness and inclusivity are fundamental values that enhance the entire footballing community. A huge thanks to Nicky for taking up this role and adding his voice to our campaign.”
