Billy Sass-Davies becomes latest addition

Hartlepool United are delighted to confirm the signing of defender Billy Sass-Davies following a successful trial period at Victoria Park.

The centre-back, who made 12 appearances for Wales at youth level, has made three outings during pre-season for Pools and got on the scoresheet away to South Shields.

The move sees Sass-Davies link up with manager Darren Sarll for the third time in his career, having previously enjoyed loan spells at Yeovil Town and Woking.

Sass-Davies also spent a large portion of his career at Crewe Alexandra, playing nearly 50 times for the Railwaymen, while spending last season on loan at Boreham Wood.

Sass-Davies will wear the number 17 shirt during his time at Victoria Park, and will be eligible for the opening day of the season on August 10th.

Upon joining Pools, Sass-Davies stated:

“I’m delighted to be here – it’s a massive club. I’ve really enjoyed my time on trial over the last two weeks and I’m pleased to have been offered a contract.”

“I’m confident going into the season. It’s the third time I’ve played under the gaffer so I understand the way that he wants us to play. It suits me both in and out of possession, and I can’t wait to get going.”

Pools manager Darren Sarll commented:

“Billy’s period of assessment with us was very promising. He adapted very quickly to the intensity and fitness capacity of other players.”

“It of course helps that we have worked together previously and his experience in senior football is strong for his age.”

“Billy provides great depth to a very important position. Not having the right central defenders or indeed enough can be very precarious in any squad. I’m hoping that he has a successful and long-standing stay with us.”
