Hartlepool United are pleased to announce the signing of experienced goalkeeper Adam Smith on a short-term deal following a successful trial period.
The 31-year-old, who holds nearly 250 career appearances, played under Pools manager Darren Sarll at Yeovil Town where he reached the National League play-offs.
Smith won the play-offs in 2014 with Cambridge United during the early stages of his career, before playing every game for Northampton Town in 2016 as they gained promotion to League One.
The shot-stopper then enjoyed spells at Bristol Rovers, Forest Green Rovers, Stevenage and Morecambe before putting pen to paper at Victoria Park.
Smith will wear the number 41 shirt during his time at Pools and will be eligible for our season opener at Yeovil next weekend.
Upon joining Pools, Smith stated:
“I’m buzzing to have signed – I’ve been here since the start of pre-season and it just felt like a good fit. The lads have welcomed me in from the start so it’s been really easy to settle in. It’s great to be back in the North East – it’s always difficult to come to Hartlepool as an opponent due to the atmosphere here so it’s exciting to be on the right side of it. I can’t wait to get started.”
