Young Pools score eight in dominant victory against Swalwell

Hartlepool United Under-21s secured a thumping 8-0 victory against Swalwell Juniors at Seaton Carew’s Hornby Park.

Jake Worth, Ashton Wood and Josiah Joalaso all scored a brace, with Owen Kingsland and Thomas Taylor also on the scoresheet.

Alex Cross’ side dominated the first half and took the lead 10 minutes before the break when Worth poked home at the back post.

Pools started the second half in style, with Owen Kingsland slotting into the bottom corner after a lovely pass from Will Coxon.

Worth added his second after some great work from Wood, who then struck twice himself in quick succession.

The midfielder slammed home his first from close range before slotting in his second just minutes later.

First-year Taylor came off the bench to score Pools’ sixth, slotting past the keeper.

Joalaso then got in on the act, rounding the goalkeeper before rolling into an empty net.

The forward added his second shortly afterwards, latching onto a superb cross from Lewis Bramley before the ball deflected off a defender’s face and into the net.

HUFC XI | Williams (Holtman 57’), Daines, Bramley, Scothern (Taylor 67’) Flint (Khrystenko 45’), Gilbraith, Swan (Niven 45’), Wood ©, Kingsland (Joalaso 60’), Coxon, Worth (Cooke 67’)
