Premier League ‘More Than A Game’ highlights the impact of long-term investment into communities and all levels of football
‘More Than A Game’ showcases the Premier League’s long-standing commitment to supporting the community activity of clubs at all levels of the game, as well as investing in other areas, including the non-league system, grassroots facilities and women’s and girls’ football.
It also provides an opportunity to celebrate the 2.5 million people who have participated in Premier League-funded community programmes that are run by Premier League, EFL and National League clubs.
An independent study by social research agency Substance found that Premier League club charity and Premier League Foundation programmes will generate more than £4.3 billion in social value between 2025 and 2028. This is delivering notable improvements in wellbeing, physical and mental health, education and employment, as well as strengthening social cohesion and community connection.
Community Captain Award: Victoria Burton
Victoria Burton exemplifies the values, leadership, and community spirit that the Premier League and NLT seek to recognise through its Community Captain and Premier League Primary Stars leadership honours. Throughout her career with Hartlepool United Community Sports Foundation, Victoria has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to improving lives across Hartlepool through education, wellbeing, and inclusive sport.
As Deputy Manager of the Foundation, Victoria plays a central role in shaping programmes that reach children, families, older adults, and some of the most vulnerable members of the community. Her leadership of key initiatives — including school engagement, youth development, dementia support, and health and wellbeing projects — reflects her ability to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds. She has delivered transformative work through the Twinning Project in local prisons, supported young people through NCS, and championed women and girls’ football development, all while maintaining a calm, compassionate, and highly professional approach.
Victoria is widely respected by colleagues, partners, and participants for her integrity, her work ethic, and her genuine care for the people she serves. She represents the Foundation at Premier League community events with pride and authenticity, embodying the “More Than A Game” ethos in everything she does. Her impact is not only measured in programme outcomes, but in the confidence, belonging, and opportunity she helps create for others.
