Featherstone reacts to Truro victory

Nicky Featherstone believes that Hartlepool United’s home form will be ‘massively important’ if they are to ‘move forward’ in the Enterprise National League following a 3-1 victory over Truro City

The interim Pools boss was impressed with his side’s performance and had huge praise for the character shown by his players.

He said, “I was desperate for a win at home.

“We’ve drawn too many games this season at home, and if we do want to move forward in this division and challenge at the right end of the table, then our home form will be massively important to that.

“I thought performance-wise, we controlled the game in the first half.

“We started the second half really poorly, first 15-20 minutes, then they got the goal.

“We made a couple of subs, the two wingers come on, and they’ve changed the dynamic of the game.

Adam Campbell opened the scoring for Pools with his fourth goal contribution in five games.

“I’m absolutely buzzing for Adam,” Featherstone continued.

“He’s been absolutely brilliant since I’ve come in both in and out of possession.

“All I’ve done is given him an opportunity to go and do his thing, but he goes out there, tries his hardest and brings the quality he possesses.

“He looks like he’s really enjoying him self at the minute.

Featherstone was also pleased with the form of Alex Reid since coming back from injury against Gateshead.

The striker has scored two goals in his last two appearances at the Prestige Group Stadium.

“[Reid] does a lot of unseen work, a lot of work out of possession for the team, which is really important for how he plays and how we play.

“He’s a massive part of that, and to reward him with a goal at the end with the final kick of the game was great.”
