Pools Women continued their fine run of form with a commanding 4–1 victory over Wallsend BC Women Reserves at Wolviston.
From the opening whistle, Pools set the tone with high energy and precise passing, dominating possession and pressing aggressively in the final third.
After winning the ball deep in Wallsend territory, Evie Smith stepped up and unleashed a powerful strike from distance that flew past the goalkeeper, giving Pools an early advantage and sending a strong message to the visitors two minutes in.
Pools continued to push forward, creating several chances to double their lead, however, Wallsend showed admirable resilience, forcing Pools to stay sharp and focused.
That pressure eventually paid off again when Evie Smith, full of confidence from her early goal, struck once more with another brilliant long-range effort. Her ability to find space and pick out the top corner gave Pools a deserved 2–0 cushion.
Despite control from Pools, Wallsend refused to fold. In the latter stages of the first half, they hit back on the counterattack.
A quick move caught the Pools’ backline off guard, and in the 32nd minute, Tyne calmly slotted home for the visitors, halving the deficit and reminding the hosts they still had work to do.
The second half began with a tactical change for Pools, as Jas Sheene came on to inject fresh energy down the right flank.
Just nine minutes into the half, Sheene burst past her marker and delivered a pinpoint cross into the box.
Waiting at the far post was Grace Raw, who met the ball with a composed finish to restore Hartlepool’s two-goal advantage in the 54th minute.
With momentum firmly back on their side, Pools continued to push for more.
The combination play in midfield was smooth and confident, and it wasn’t long before Sheene was involved again as in the 66th minute, she made another surging run, this time setting up Poppy Todd, who calmly placed her shot beyond the Wallsend keeper, securing Pool’s fourth goal of the afternoon.
The result means Pools extend their winning streak and maintain valuable momentum heading into their next match against Norton and Stockton Reserves.
