Hartlepool United manager Simon Grayson ‘couldn’t be more happy’ with his team’s 2-0 win over Altrincham in the Enterprise National League.
Alex Reid’s second goal of the season gave Pools an early lead before Reiss McNally added a second before half-time.
The Pools boss was pleased with the performance of his players after a positive start to the campaign.
“It’s another great game where it’s a different test for us.
“We had to adapt to the game plan at certain points in the game to get the three points.
“It’s a fantastic result, to get a 2-0 victory and a third clean sheet of the season at a difficult place against a good team.”
The opening goal for Pools was a well-worked counter-attack from Jamie Miley, feeding Reid to break the deadlock.
“We knew we’d get chances on the counter-attack, because they’re quite open.
“We had to be ruthless when we got the opportunities, and that’s how it panned out.”
Although there was plenty of individual brilliance during the game, Grayson wished to applaud the teamwork of his side.
“Talking about a few individuals, we could go right through the team.
“The subs affected the game when they came on, and collectively, you have to do different things.”
