Club Statement: Hartlepool Mail & BBC Tees

In May and June 2025, BBC Tees and the Hartlepool Mail published various material about the Club and Chairman that were factually incorrect and defamatory without giving the Club the opportunity to respond to or comment on the content, or to provide confirmation of its factual basis.

Since then, the Club’s legal representative have been in contact with both parties to correct the false impressions and inaccurate information in various material and to correct the record for our supporters and the general public.

The Hartlepool Mail has now published a statement to rectify matters, setting out the position with facts for some of the content in question. The Hartlepool Mail has also apologised for its failures in articles including those made by their reporter Robbie Stelling.

The Club still awaits similar corrections from BBC Tees and remains in ongoing legal correspondence.

Mr Singh has confirmed that he remains committed to supporting the Club until a suitable takeover party can demonstrate that necessary funds are in place.

In the meantime, the Club and Chairman ask all supporters to get behind the new manager and players as we embark upon a new season and our first home game this coming Saturday against Braintree Town.
