Grayson assesses Pools goalless draw with Yeovil

Hartlepool United manager Simon Grayson believes that his team’s 0-0 draw with Yeovil Town in their season opener was a ‘fair result’.

The two sides met at Huish Park to begin their Enterprise National League season, but neither side could find a winner.

The Pools boss said, “Ideally, we would have liked to have won the game.

“Over the course of the game, probably a fair result.

“It was probably a typical first day of the season game where both teams, especially in the first 20 minutes or so, were really apprehensive, really nervous.

“Out of possession, I thought we were really good in terms of the shape of the team, how hard we defended, how hard we worked.

“In possession, I think we could do a little bit more over the course of 90 minutes.”

Despite not finding a winner, Grayson still saw the positives to take from the result.

“Do you take a clean sheet and a point away from home first game? Yes.

“Would you like three? Of course, you would.

“This is not an easy place to come first game of the season… Overall, we’ll take what we’ve got and get back up the road soon.”

The Glovers have never found victory against a side managed by Grayson, nor has the Pools boss tasted defeat in his first league match as a manager.
