Match Report | Whitby Town 0-2 Pools

Hartlepool United’s second pre-season fixture of the 2025-26 campaign ended in a 2-0 victory over Whitby Town at the Towbar Express Stadium.

Two goals from a Trialist and Tom Parkes were the difference for Pools as they claimed a second consecutive win and clean sheet in the Yorkshire coast sunshine.

Whitby had the better chances in the early stages of the first half, the clearest coming from James Harrison’s header, which was just shy of the post after three minutes.

Sam Folarin had his drilled effort cleared off the goal-line before the half-hour mark.

There was little to report on, nor divide the sides on after the half-time, as the initial excitement of the first period had fizzled out.

Matthew Tymon forced a strong save out of the trialist goalkeeper for Pools, by far the best chance of the match up to that point.

Pools had the breakthrough after 75 minutes when two outfield trialists combined from a cross to a neat tap-in.

It took merely seven minutes for Tom Parkes to double the lead for the visitors with a strong header into the ground and into the Whitby net.
