Kian Foreman makes senior debut

Hartlepool United Academy coach, Graeme Clark, has heaped praise on Kian Foreman after the 17-year-old made his senior debut on Tuesday night.

The Hartlepool-born striker, who is currently a first-year scholar, came on for the final 10 minutes as Pools faced Tamworth at the Prestige Group Stadium in trophy action.

Foreman follows the likes of Louis Stephenson, Campbell Darcy, Max Storey and Alfie Steel over the last year to have stepped up from the Academy side into the first team.

His introduction for Anthony Mancini was met with a standing ovation from the crowd, which included his Academy teammates and coaches.

Clark was overjoyed for the hometown youngster, praising his attitude and commitment.

“We’re delighted for Kian,” he stated.

“He’s been a joy since he joined us in the summer. He’s best described as a bundle of joy, who is relentless with his attitude and application to better himself.

“Given time, I’m sure he’ll grow into a fantastic player but we need to remain patient as he continues to grow.

“It was a fantastic experience for him on Tuesday night and hopefully he’s the first of many to get that opportunity this season.”
