Women lose to i2i Academy

Hartlepool United Women were unable to build on their win over Chester-le-Street Amazons as they went down to a 9-2 defeat to i2i Soccer Academy.

The first half was a competitive affair in which Pools looked dangerous going forward.

They scored two top quality goals through Libbie Trainor and Zara Johnson.

Unfortunately, i2i were the better side in possession and were ruthless in front of goal, capitalising on every mistake to go 5-2 up at half time.

It meant Pools were still in the game but the second half took a complete turn with a quick goal after the break which killed any momentum the hosts had.

A goalkeeping injury and a sin-bin meant the scoreline was exaggerated with the York team adding four further goals.

Overall, the Pools performance wasn’t good enough as manager Alex Curl explained.

”It’s important that we hold our hands up in situations like this,” he said.

“A game full of errors on our behalf which was reflected in the scoreline.

“As always there are positives and negatives to take from the game.

“There is lots of work to do moving forward for my team to get to where we want to be.”
