Hartlepool United kicked off their hectic Bank Holiday schedule with a 1-1 draw at home to Wealdstone following a 98th minute equaliser from Mani Dieseruvwe.

Darren Sarll made two changes to the Pools side that defeated Tamworth in midweek, with Luke Waterfall and Anthony Mancini entering the starting line-up.

The hosts looked for the first blow as Dieseruvwe played Mancini through on five minutes, but Archie Matthews made a strong save at his front post for Wealdstone.

The game lacked much action until Matt Taylor’s side took the lead on 39 minutes. Max Kretzschmar retained possession at the byline for Stones before Micah Obiero slammed home at close-range.

Pools put crosses into the danger zone early in the second half, though both Dieseruvwe and Tom Parkes could only direct their efforts off target.

Matthews also played an instrumental role for the visitors, stopping strikes from Dieseruvwe and Nathan Sheron as the clock ticked down.

However, in the eighth minute of added time, Pools found their leveller. A long kick forward from goalkeeper Joel Dixon found its way to the feet of Dieseruvwe, who prodded the ball around Matthews to rescue a point.

With Pools still unbeaten, their next test takes place on Bank Holiday Monday as Sarll visits his former stomping ground with a trip to Woking.
