Pools Youth Team are on home soil again on Wednesday afternoon when they host Boston United at in the NLFA Premier Division at Welfare Park in Blackhall (1pm kick-off).
Ian McGuckin’s youngsters are bang in-form at the moment having won six out of their last eight games to push themselves back in to contention near the top of the table.
Pools currently lie fifth but have games in hand on all of the top three and know they have the opportunity to close the gap further if they can win again this afternoon.
They are going in search of a league double over their visitors after running out comfortable 5-0 winners when the sides met in Lincolnshire at the end of January.
However, McGuckin has urged his players not to take anything for granted and make sure the standards they have set since the turn of the year are maintained against The Pilgrims.
“If we can keep on winning then we know we can push ourselves right in to the mix,” he told us.
“At the minute, games can’t come quick enough for the lads – it’s always like that when you’re high on confidence, scoring goals and winning games.
“We’ve just got to make sure we keep our focus, show no complacency and just concentrate on one game at a time.”
Kyle Wilson is back in training after a leg injury and could feature but Conner Rennison (knee), Oliver Thompson (Achilles) and Adam Campbell (knee) are all still sidelined.
Kick-off is 1pm and entry to all supporters is free at Welfare Park so please head over and give the youngsters some support if you can.
