Craig Hignett has admitted that Saturday’s trip to Dagenham & Redbridge will provide the sternest examination yet of Pools’ upturn in form but is backing his players to come out on top.
A confident Pools squad will make the trip to East London on the back of a run of five games unbeaten and having collected an impressive 11 points from the last available 15.
However, The Daggers have also improved after a tricky start and Peter Taylor’s men have not tasted defeat in their last six outings ahead of the meeting with Pools at Victoria Road this weekend.
Hignett knows exactly how big the challenge will be for his team on Saturday but is still confident they can win the game – as long as do all the same things they’ve done in the last five games.
“It’s going to be a another tough one away from home,” he told Pools TV.
“Dagenham are on a really good run, they haven’t been beaten in six and they beat Maidenhead last time out – but all the games in this league are tough.
“They are well organised and they like to play when they can so it will be difficult but there is only a thin line between many clubs in this league and it’s about what you’re like on the day.
“We’ve had some consistency over the last five weeks or so and if we can find that again on Saturday then we’ll give ourselves a good chance of winning the game.
“We have to do our jobs, do things properly and do the basics well and hopefully if you do all that then that little bit of quality will come through.”
