Durham-born Cooke joined Hartlepool in July 2022 and made 40 appearances during his first season at the Suit Direct Stadium.
The playmaker, who previously represented England at U18 level, rose through Middlesbrough's academy set-up. He had loans to Crewe and Blackpool before he signed for Peterborough.
Cooke then enjoyed a spell with Bradford City, making over 100 appearances for the Bantams before making the switch to Pools.
