Front man Jake Cassidy became Pools’ first signing of the summer when he agreed a move to Victoria Park following his departure from Guiseley.
The transfer marked the second time that then Pools boss Craig Harrison had signed the powerful forward, having previously plucked him from the lower leagues in Wales when in charge at Airbus UK Broughton.
Standing at 6ft 2ins, Cassidy is blessed with fantastic strength and a keen eye for goal – highlighted during a goal-laden spell on loan at Tranmere Rovers in 2012/13 as the Wirral outfit challenged for promotion from League One.
After starring in Wales for Llandudno Junction and Airbus, it was Wolves who first brought Cassidy in to English football and he went on to gain international recognition for the Welsh Under-21 side.
After spending a season with Oldham Athletic, he stepped in to the National League for the first time last season when he signed for Guiseley and his goals played a key role in ensuring the West Yorkshire side steered clear of relegation.
Cassidy’s first season at Pools was interrupted by a foot injury but he still managed to make 35 appearances and provide a focal point for the attack, notching five goals along the way.
