Goalkeeper Trevor Carson joined Pools in the summer of 2015 following his departure from Cheltenham Town.
The Northern Ireland international had been The Robins’ Player of the Year during 2014/15 but even his heroic performances could not save the club from relegation.
Carson originally moved to England to join Sunderland at the age of 16 and he spent six years at The Stadium of Light before moving on to Bury in 2012, starring for The Shakers and also excelling during a loan spell at Portsmouth.
After spending a season at Cheltenham he was delighted to return to the north-east with Pools though his competitive debut was delayed by an injury sustained on the eve of the 2015/16 campaign.
However, once back to fitness, Carson began to show exactly why he is so highly-regarded and a string of incredible performances ensured he was named as Pools’ Fans and Players’ Player of the Year in his first season at The Vic.
Having penned a new long-term deal in the summer of 2016, Carson suffered with a shoulder injury in the first half of last season before undergoing surgery at the start of the New Year.
