Teenage striker Jake Orrell joined Pools in June 2016 after turning down the offer of a new contract with League One outfit Chesterfield.
A graduate of Sunderland’s Academy, Orrell spent six years with The Black Cats before moving on to Gateshead College at the age of 16 where he impressed enough to earn a deal with Gateshead.
A trial with Chesterfield saw the pacy front man secure a switch to The Spireites where he won a first professional contract at the start of the 2015/16 campaign.
He went on to make four senior appearances for the Derbyshire side and Pools boss Craig Hignett was quick to make his move once he was released from The Proact Stadium.
Orrell debuted in the Checkatrade Trophy against Sunderland and became a regular scorer for the Club’s Reserve Team during this debut season at Pools.
