Hartlepool United v Boreham Wood
Saturday 23rd November, 3pm
Boreham Wood will hope they can continue their climb up the National League table and have a say in and around the play-off places again during 2019/20.
The Wood were beaten Play-Off Finalists in 2017/18 when Tranmere Rovers scraped past them to claim a return to the EFL and Luke Garrard’s men failed to find the same level of consistency last term.
Having finished 20th in 2018/19, The Wood endured a slow start to the new campaign but have been making up ground in the last few months and arrive at Victoria Park on a run of three without defeat.
They are currently one point and one place above Pools in the National League table so there is all to play for when they make the long trip to the North East this weekend.
One To Watch
Kabongo Tshimanga has hit the ground running at Meadow Park since being snapped up by Boreham Wood during the summer after blasting 37 goals for Oxford City last season.
The 22-year-old ace came through the ranks with MK Dons but could not make a regular breakthrough there so, after a series of loan moves, he made a switch to Boston United.
However, it was a link-up with Oxford which really seems to have ignited Tshimanga’s career and there are already reports of higher division interest in the front man who has hit the new 12 times already for The Wood this season.
Head To Head
This weekend’s game will be the fifth competitive meeting between the two clubs and Pools are yet to taste defeat against their Hertfordshire visitors.
The last time they met was back in February when Pools turned in a clinical away performance to come away from Meadow Park on the back of a convincing 4-0 triumph.
Pools did the double over The Wood last season, while both games back in the 2017/18 campaign ended goalless.
