Dagenham & Redbridge v Hartlepool United
Saturday 14th September 2019, 3pm
Dagenham & Redbridge come in to this weekend’s game level on points with Pools and only beneath us in the current National League table by one goal.
The Daggers are unbeaten in six at the moment and were boosted by a fantastic win at in-form Maidenhead United last time out over the weekend.
Similarly to Pools, Peter Taylor’s men had a sluggish start to the new campaign and lost three of their first four games before putting together this good run of results which has lifted them up the table.
Both sides have scored and conceded their fair share already this term and, given Pools’ recent run of five without a loss, it looks set to be another engaging encounter on Saturday.
One To Watch
Angelo Balanta was lured away from Boreham Wood by The Daggers last October and he’s provided a real goal threat in the months since then.
The 29-year-old former Queens Park Rangers trainee has found the net ten times for Peter Taylor’s men since arriving – and they’ve never lost a game in which he’s been on the scoresheet.
Four of those goals have come this term for Balanta and Pools will have to be on their game this weekend to make sure the talented forward does not add to that tally.
Head To Head
Saturday’s game will be the 14th competitive meeting between the two clubs and Pools have performed better over the years, earning seven victories in comparison to The Daggers’ five.
Both games last season were won 2-1 by the away sides, Pools enjoying a 2-1 triumph at Victoria Road in the opening month thanks to goals from Michael Woods and Liam Noble.
There has only ever been one draw between the clubs; that came back in October 2010 when two own goals saw the game finish 1-1 at Victoria Road when Mick Wadsworth was in charge at Pools.

On The Whistle
Sam Allison will repeat his role as the man in charge for this weekend’s game after also taking charge for the same fixture between the sides last term.
The experienced official is in to his fourth season on the National League list of referees but last August’s game against The Daggers is the only time he’s overseen Pools in action.
Allison has presided over four games so far this term, his most recent appointment coming in Eastleigh’s 2-0 home win over Boreham Wood at the beginning of the month when he sent off visiting midfielder Tom Champion.
