Pools are expanding their Youth Development programme with a new initiative for young players in the region.
This new scheme will provide Year 10 and 11 youngsters with an opportunity to develop their skills and give them a potential pathway in to the Club’s Under-19s full-time programme.
Led by Graeme Clark, a vastly experienced UEFA A Licence qualified coach and FA Coach Educator, this Elite Development initiative will give youngsters access to high-quality coaching within a professional environment.
The Club will be laying on several trial evenings in the coming weeks, starting on Monday 9th September, from which a limited number of elite players will be offered the chance to join the programme.
“This is a really exciting project for the Club,” explained Ian McGuckin.
“Previously, under EFL regulations, the Club was unable to allow youngsters to continue playing with grassroots clubs as well as being registered with Pools.
“However, this programme has been specifically designed to complement the excellent work that is going on at so many boys clubs across Hartlepool and the surrounding area.
“Not only will those who come on board be given the chance to hone their footballing skills, but they will also be given all the tools they need to progress in to the Club’s Youth Team and beyond.”
The first session is on Monday 9th September between 6pm and 8pm at East Durham College in Peterlee and these will run each Monday throughout the month.
