Craig Hignett is crossing his fingers that the leg injury suffered by Luke Molyneux during Wednesday evening’s friendly at York City is not as bad as first feared.
The winger has been in sensational form during pre-season but was forced off midway through the first half at Bootham Crescent after being caught late by former Pools midfielder Paddy McLaughlin.
Molyneux was sent to York Hospital for an X-ray immediately after the 2-1 defeat and Hignett admitted that it’s just a case of hoping for the best.
“Luke has gone off with what looks a really nasty injury which I am really disappointed about,” he told Pools PlayerHD.
“Obviously I know Paddy McLaughlin well and I know the type of player he is so I know he didn’t mean it.
“Luke has gone for an x-ray but it’s very sore and tender so we’re hoping for the best, but we’ll just have to see where are with it.
“The last thing you want is a nasty injury in pre-season so fingers crossed it won’t keep him out for weeks and it will be a lesser injury than we’re fearing.”
