Experienced centre-back Michael Raynes joined the Club on a permanent deal during the summer after impressing whilst on loan last season.
The wily Manchester-born defender has now made over 400 league appearances during a career which began at Stockport County but has taken in spells with Scunthorpe United, Rotherham United, Mansfield Town and Carlisle United.
Raynes was offered the skipper’s armband at Carlisle after helping them to the League Two play-offs in 2016/17 but opted to move on to Crewe during the summer where he quickly became a regular.
However, he was given the green light to move on loan to Pools and made three encouraging appearances before being struck down by an Achilles injury.
Having worked hard to back to fitness, the influential centre-back was on Craig Hignett’s list of summer targets and he clinched a permanent deal in May.
