Popular front man Luke James clinched a permanent return to Victoria Park in July 2018 when he agreed a move following his departure from Forest Green Rovers.
The livewire attacker came through the ranks at Pools having been with the Club since he was 11 and burst on to the First Team scene at the end of 2011 while he was still just 17.
In January 2012 James became the youngest player ever to score a senior goal for the Club when he fired home a screamer in our game against Rochdale which was subsequently voted Goal of the Season for 2011/12.
Having won the Football League’s prestigious Apprentice of the Year award for League One in 2012/13, he went on to become the Club’s top scorer the following season which saw him crowned as both Fans and Players’ Player of the Year.
That form earned him a move to Peterborough United in August 2014 though he returned to Pools for a successful loan spell during the second half of 2015/16 as form improved and the team climbed the League Two table.
After a season-long loan at Bristol Rovers he joined Forest Green Rovers in the summer of 2017 but finished last term on loan at Barrow where his seven goals included one against Pools.
Once it became known that a deal could be done, Pools moved quickly to bring James back to the North East and he went on to win the 2018/19 Supporters’ Player of the Year award following some typically tenacious displays.
