Pools beat off competition from several other clubs to land the signature of highly-rated young goalkeeper Ben Killip during the summer of 2019.
The 6ft 2ins star was one of the star performers for Braintree Town last term, finishing the season as skipper and keeping an impressive ten clean sheets despite their relegation.
His form not only earned him plenty of admirers, he also gained international recognition when he won three caps for England C during 2019/20.
Killip first caught the eye of Craig Hignett and Ross Turnbull when he turned in an outstanding performance in Braintree’s 1-1 draw against Pools at the start of last term, making countless saves and also keeping out a Liam Noble penalty.
When it became clear that Pools would be in the market for a keeper during the summer, former Chelsea trainee Killip moved to the top of their list of targets and the Club subsequently clinched a deal to bring him to the North East.
