Match Preview: Pools on the Road to Oxford

8 September 2023

After another home win, Hartlepool United are looking for their second victory of the season on the road as they head to Oxford City on Saturday (3pm kick-off). Pools' trip to the RAW Charging Stadium is the first in their history after The Hoops' promotion last season.

The Lowdown

Pools have claimed five wins from seven games this season, claiming 15 points and currently sitting fourth in the table. In contrast, Oxford City have won just once, defeating Boreham Wood 4-0 on Bank Holiday Monday. Last time out, Pools overcame a stubborn Wealdstone side to come out 2-1 winners, while Oxford played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Solihull Moors.

Ross Jenkins is Oxford's manager, and his side features Josh Parker in attack. The forward bagged 18 goals last season, including one in the Promotion Final win over St Albans.

Team News

John Askey provided injury updates on Alex Lacey and Chris Wreh in his midweek press conference, while Anthony Mancini and Dan Dodds are long-term absentees. Ollie Finney made his comeback from injury last week, and he'll be in contention again alongside Kieran Wallace who's made two starts in a row since his own return.
