Match Preview: Pools head to Dagenham & Redbridge

20 September 2023

After a hard-fought draw at Altrincham, Hartlepool United are on the road again as they travel to Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

The Lowdown

Pools claimed a point on the road last time out thanks to goals from Oliver Finney and Joe Grey, and they'll be looking for their second away win of the season at the Chigwell Construction Stadium. They're currently seventh in the National League, sitting in the final play-off position, nine points behind leaders Chesterfield.

The Daggers have started the season with three wins, three draws, and four losses, and they lost to Bromley at home during the week. Led by Ben Strevens, their side features experienced goalkeeper Elliot Justham, West Ham loanee Keenan Appiah-Forson, and top scorer this season Ryan Hill.

The History

The sides have met 17 times in the past, with Pools winning 10 of the previous fixtures. The Daggers have won six times, while just one match has ended in a draw. Pools have won the last three meetings between the sides, last winning 2-1 in April 2021.

Team News

Alex Lacey had to leave the action early last Saturday following a clash of heads and he was subsequently unavailable on Tuesday. Pools will be hopeful that he'll be back soon, especially given the current injury situation.

Zak Johnson will be eligible to make his Pools debut after signing on a one-month loan deal from Sunderland.

Tom Crawford will be unavailable after picking up five yellow cards, and therfore serving a one-match ban.

Dan Dodds, Anthony Mancini and Callum Cooke remain unavailable following long-term injuries.

How to Follow

If you're not travelling to the Chigwell Construction Stadium, you can follow the action via National League TV here.
