Match report: Point a piece at The Suit Direct

11 March 2023

Northampton clawed back a late equaliser as the game finished level here at The Suit Direct Stadium.

A first half that was very much end to end saw both goalkeepers sprawled into action. The first chance of the game fell to the visitors when Pinnock's curling effort was palmed away by Stolarczyk after just five minutes.

Just two minutes later, Pools were up the other end as Sylla let loose on a venomous strike that was well saved by Burge.

Stolarczyk was once again called into action as two saves in two minutes denied Appere and Pinnock just after the 20 minute mark.

On 33 minutes, everyone in the ground thought John Askey's side were in front but Umerah's glancing header was superbly saved by Burge.

On 37 minutes, Pools did have their goal. Ferguson fired the ball into Umerah who swivelled away from his man and found the bottom corner for his 14th of the season.

The second half started with all the pressure coming from the hosts as Hoskins put the ball in the back of the net but he was deemed offside.

An altercation saw Euan Murray also pick up a yellow card.

On 81 minutes, Northampton found their equaliser. A short corner was swung in towards the backpost and Hoskins was there to head home.

The game ends level and Pools now look towards Bradford next week.
