Match Preview: Pools Head to Redcar

25 July 2023

After an unbeaten start to pre-season, Hartlepool United travel to Redcar Athletic this evening for a further outing (7.30pm KO).

The Opposition

Redcar are currently members of the Northern League Division One. Led by manager Gary Forster, the Teesside-based club are looking forward to their third season in the division after a points-per-game promotion following the curtailed 2020-21 season.

This match will be the first clash between the sides, though a link between Hartlepool and Redcar is found in Mark Robinson. The current first-team coach at Redcar, Robinson came through Pools' Youth Training Scheme after academy spells at Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest. He went on to play more than 250 games in blue and white before departing for Hereford United in 2004.

Team News

Anthony Mancini is likely to be named in his first official squad on Tuesday after signing for John Askey's side, and he'll join a near-fully fit squad in Teesside. The Pools academy will also feature strongly, with matchday places for Campbell Darcy, Louis Stephenson, and Leo Robinson.
