On Friday 10th February HUCSF travelled to the Beacon of Light to participate in the Premier League Primary Stars Under 11 Girls tournament, hosted by Sunderland’s Foundation of Light. Throston Primary School Year 5 & 6 girls were the Hartlepool United representatives for the competition and what superb representatives they were! The girls were lucky enough to have their photograph taken with the Premier League trophy to start the day, before taking part in a wellbeing workshop as part of Children’s Mental Health Week.
The girls were then treated to a behind-the-scenes stadium tour of the Stadium of Light and the morning ended with a spot of lunch. In the afternoon, the girls took part in a football competition against representatives from Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Newcastle United and Carlisle United. The girls didn’t manage to qualify for the semi-final, but were however rewarded with a trophy and medals for the Fair Play Award, presented by two of the Sunderland AFC Women’s team. This was awarded for the girls’ attitude and behaviour throughout the entire day, with them receiving positive comments from a number of staff members from the host club.
The girls were superb ambassadors for their school and for Hartlepool United and we are delighted that they had an enjoyable day.
