Match Preview: Pools Play Maidenhead Under The Lights

14 August 2023

Hartlepool United play their second home game inside four days as they welcome Maidenhead United to The Suit Direct Stadium on Tuesday night (7:45pm kick-off).

The Lowdown

John Askey's side claimed their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon as a 90th minute winner from debut hero Mani Dieseruvwe carried Pools over the line against Gateshead.

Managed by former England international Alan Devonshire, Maidenhead make the 270-mile trip to the North East having claimed a 2-0 win over Dorking Wanderers last time out.

Shawn McCoulsky and Ashley Nathaniel-George were on target as The Magpies continued their unbeaten start to the season, following a 2-2 draw with Fylde on the opening day.

Last season, Devonshire's outfit avoided relegation by two points after finishing 20th in the National League.

The History

Pools have won four of the last five games against Maidenhead, including a 4-0 away victory in October 2020.

However, The Magpies claimed the bragging rights in the last meeting with a 4-2 win in May 2021.

Team News

Josh Umerah will miss out after picking up a suspension against Gateshead on Saturday.

Joe Grey will be subject to a late fitness test after an ankle injury. Oliver Finney will also be assessed after recovering from an achilles problem.

Kieran Wallace remains unavailable with a broken toe.
