Match Preview: Pools face Barrow at Home

27 April 2023

After a tumultuous week, Hartlepool United are preparing for their final home match of the season as Barrow head to the Suit Direct Stadium on Saturday (3pm KO).

The Opposition

Barrow have enjoyed a steady season, sitting ninth in the table with two matches to go. Ten points adrift of Bradford City, their play-off aspirations are just out of reach with six points to play for. Manager Pete Wild has had a good first season in Cumbria, and his squad includes two former Pools loanees - Tom White and Richie Bennett.

The History

This will be the 96th meeting between the sides, with Pools winning 38 of the previous matches and Barrow winning 35 times. The sides have been level in 22 matches, and earlier this season it was Barrow that claimed all three points. A Chris Missilou strike came too late, as three first-half goals sunk Pools.

Team News

Euan Murray and Alex Lacey remain unavailable due to injury, but boss John Askey has no new concerns from last week. Peter Hartley is still returning to fitness after being sidelined by concussion protocols.
