Hartlepool United return to the Suit Direct Stadium on Tuesday evening as Salford City come to town (7.45pm KO). Keith Curle has urged fans to stick with the team, and the interim boss will be demanding a reaction from his side after negative results recently.
The Opposition
Salford come into the fixture having won two of their previous five league games. They’re currently eighth in League Two, level on points with Carlisle who occupy the last play-off place.
The Ammies are managed by Neil Wood and plenty of players have pulled on the Salford and Pools jerseys recently. Mark Shelton, Luke Armstrong, Gus Mafuta, and Devante Rodney have played for both.
The History
The sides have met just seven times previously, with Pools winning twice, Salford winning four times, and one match ending in a draw. Salford have won four of the last five fixtures between the sides, with Pools’ win coming on the last day of the 2018/19 season after goals from Nicky Featherstone, Nicke Kabamba, and Luke James.
Team News
Mark Shelton and Mohamed Niang both succumbed to injuries in the first half on Saturday, and both are doubts for Salford’s visit. Nicky Featherstone made his return from injury in a boost to Pools, but Keith Curle has made it clear that he’ll need to be managed carefully. Joe Grey and Jamie Sterry continue their recoveries after a concussion and a niggle in training respectively.
