Hartlepool United are pleased to announce the signing of Fleetwood Town goalkeeper Alex Cairns. Cairns joins on a seven-day emergency loan from the League One side.
The goalkeeper started his career with Leeds' academy and made one appearance for the senior side after injury to Andy Lonergan and Paul Rachubka. He enjoyed loan spells at Barrow and Stalybridge Celtic while contracted Elland Road, before leaving for Chesterfield in 2015.
A move to Rotherham followed and he joined current side Fleetwood in July 2018. In all, Cairns has played almost 300 matches in his career, and he brings much-needed experience into the Pools squad.
The 'keeper will wear the number 32 and is available for today's matchday squad following injuries to both Killip and Letheren.
