Match Preview: Pools travel to Stevenage

11 November 2022

Hartlepool United return to League action on Saturday as they travel to Stevenage (3pm KO). Coming off the back of a win over Grimsby and a draw with Solihull, Pools will want to kick on in their quest for a positive season.

The Opposition

Stevenage's last two games were both in cup competitions, defeating Gateshead in the FA Cup first round and going out of the Carabao Cup to Charlton Athletic on penalties.

They're currently second in League Two after 11 wins from 17 games. Led by manager Steve Evans, the side are looking to remain at the top end of the table after a 21st-place finish last season.

The History

The sides have met 13 times and Pools have won just once, a 2-0 victory in 2017 when Nicky Featherstone and Brad Walker netted.

Featherstone scored in our most-recent match with Stevenage, too. The sides drew 1-1 in January this year at the Suit Direct Stadium.

Team News

Alex Lacey's dislocated shoulder means he'll be on the sidelines for an extended period, joining Jamie Sterry and others. Brody Paterson should be available after missing last week's fixture, while Jack Hamilton is also available after a comeback from his niggle.
