Joe Grey stays

12 May 2022

We are delighted to announce that Joe Grey will remain with Hartlepool United into the 2022/23 season.

The club have taken up the option of another year with the forward, and he’ll continue to develop at the Suit Direct Stadium until at least the end of next season.

A product of Pools’ youth sides, Grey recovered from injury at the start of the season to form an integral part of the attack in the 2021/22 season. Standout goals against Charlton Athletic and Rotherham United in the Papa John’s Trophy showed Grey’s quality, while he also netted against Blackpool to take Pools to Selhurst Park for a tie against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup fourth round.

In all, Grey has played 52 times for Pools and scored six goals since signing a professional contract in August 2020. Injury curtailed the end of the 2021/22 season, and he’ll hope to hit the ground running as Pools push on next season.

Grey joins Tom Crawford, Ben Killip and David Ferguson in renewing for next season.

Joe Grey added:

'Delighted to be staying with Hartlepool for another year. I have obviously come through the youth system and I have had some great moments with the first team over the last two seasons. All of the lads have been great with me and we have a good, exciting group who really want to push on next season'.
