Pools sign Carver!

10 January 2022

Hartlepool United are delighted to announce the signing of forward Marcus Carver from Southport for an undisclosed fee.

The striker, who has already scored 17 goals in all competitions this season, is Graeme Lee's first signing after fighting off several other football league teams for his signature.

Carver started his career with Accrington Stanley, making his debut in April 2012. Short-term loan spells at Marine, Halifax Town, and Barrow followed before the striker joined Chorley in 2015.

Carver was a key player for Chorley, notching 47 goals across four seasons, including 17 goals in their promotion-winning season. While with the Lancashire outfit, he lined up against Pools in August 2019 in a 0-0 stalemate.

After leaving Chorley, Carver joined Southport and is currently one of the top scorers in the National League North this season.

Marcus will wear the number 11 shirt and will be available for selection this weekend subject to EFL and FA clearance.

Graeme Lee added:

“I am delighted to get Marcus in with us. He has the attitude, character and work ethic we are looking for. He has already scored 17 goals this season and hopefully more to come in blue and white.”

“I want to thank Southport and Liam Watson for the support they have shown us during our bid to bring Marcus to the club.”

“We should be in a position to announce more signings in the coming week.”

Marcus Carver added:

“I am delighted to finally get this deal over the line. I am hungry to succeed here and this is a great opportunity for myself.”

“I have been linked with other Football League clubs over the last few weeks but as soon as I knew Hartlepool were interested, it was a easy decision for me. It is a great club with huge potential and you can see from last weeks results and the atmosphere at The Suit Direct, this is a great club to involved with.”
