Hartlepool United are delighted to announce that Luke Molyneux has won player of the round for the quarter-finals of the Papa John’s Trophy.

Molyneux came off the bench to score a fantastic equaliser against League One Charlton Athletic that took the game to penalties which Pools went on to win.

The winger beat Sutton United’s Craig Eastmond, Rotherham’s Wes Harding and Wigan Athletic’s Jamie Jones to the award – after winning the majority of the votes.

Molyneux said: “I am delighted to win the award. I always want to help the team as best I can whether that’s starting or coming off the bench. “We will do everything we can in the semi-final to get past Rotherham and get us to Wembley.”

Pools face Rotherham in the semi-finals at the Suit Direct Stadium on March 9th one game away from Wembley.
