Mark Cullen leaves Pools

22 February 2022

Hartlepool United can today confirm that Mark Cullen has completed a transfer to National League North side, AFC Fylde. He’ll now join the Coasters on a permanent deal as they aim for promotion from the sixth tier.

Cullen signed for Pools in August 2021 after leaving Port Vale, having previously played for Hull City, Luton Town, and Blackpool amidst various loan spells. After getting up to speed, Cullen made 26 appearances for Pools, including 18 starts, scoring six goals, including two in the FA Cup.

His brace against Bradford City gave Pools their first away win back in League Two, while his strike in the FA Cup first-round replay against Wycombe Wanderers saw Pools through to the second round.

Graeme Lee added:

We would like to wish Cullen all the best. We will miss him in and around the squad. A great personality and a great attitude. With the new signings coming in, it was a lack of game time and he became frustrated. It also gives Mark an opportunity to move closer to home and be near family. We could have been selfish and kept Mark but we wanted the best for him. We wish him all the best going forward.

Everyone at Hartlepool United would like to thank Mark Cullen for all his hardwork and we wish him all the best in his next steps.
