Match Preview: Pools Head to Crawley Town

8 December 2022

Hartlepool United travel to Crawley Town on Friday evening looking for a vital three points as we enter the festive period (7.45pm KO). After last week's defeat, Keith Curle will want to see a big reaction from his team.

The Opposition

Crawley are 19th in League Two after five wins from their 20 games this season. They're nine points above Pools, though Curle's side could climb out of the bottom two with a win and favourable results elsewhere.

Led by manager Matthew Etherington, a former winger at Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Stoke, the side have lost just one of their last eight games in the league. Last time out, they defeated Swindon Town at home after goals from Tsaroulla and Powell.

The History

The sides have met just eight times in the past, with Pools winning twice, Crawley winning three times, and three games ending in a draw. Last season, Pools won both games - Gavan Holohan scored in the home fixture and Omar Bogle scored at The People's Pension Stadium to give Pools two 1-0 wins.

Team News

Euan Murray returned to fitness last week, and is expected to continue in the heart of defence alongside Rollin Menayese. Keith Curle confirms the treatment room is quiet and players like Mark Shelton are back on the grass.
