Pools partner with PFC Trust

25 August 2022

Local charity the PFC Trust has marked a new partnership with Hartlepool United by giving supporters of both organisations the chance to win a pair of season tickets and two new shirts in a competition.

Frances Connolly, the founder of the PFC Trust, has personally donated the sponsorship fee that sees her charity’s logo printed on the back of Pools’ second and third shirts.

The two-year deal will see both organisations work together across Hartlepool and is the latest generous move by Frances, who has already helped a long list of grassroots sports clubs and groups in the town.

Anyone wanting to be in with a chance of winning the season tickets and Hartlepool’s new shirts just needs to ‘Follow’ and ‘Like’ the PFC Trust on Facebook and Instagram. One name will be picked at random and they will win the fantastic season 2022/23 prize.

Frances said: “Pools are an important part of the town. Even in its darkest days, the people of Hartlepool supported the club. They love it and rightly so. I felt that as an individual I wanted to help it grow at a time when things have been improving and seem to be going down the right path."

“I don’t have any need for my name to go on the back of the shirt, so it made sense for me to put my charity – another thing that I love in Hartlepool – on the back of the shirt.”

The PFC Trust has always been involved in sport since it was formed in 2019 after Frances’ EuroMillions lottery win. Hartlepool Sport is also part of the PFC Trust and was set up to help as many clubs as possible in the area.

Frances added: “Sport is a great way to help young people and that is a big focus we have as a Trust. At this time when everyone is in need of some help after a difficult few years, we all need smiles, and the club can do that.”

Hartlepool’s chief operating officer Stephen Hobin wants the club to do what it can to help the PFC Trust push ahead and achieve its goals.

Stephen said: “We are thrilled with this sponsorship which is a unique donation to the club by Frances and her husband Patrick.

“To gift the club such a considerable sum of money over the next two years is an incredible gesture and in return we have placed the PFC Trust logo on the back of our away and third shirts to promote their fantastic charity which really changes lives in our community.

“Our club is keen to work with the PFC Trust where possible to help change the lives of people in our town and we encourage supporters to look into the good work the PFC Trust is doing and support it wherever possible in fundraising efforts.

“The football shirts themselves look fantastic and with the PFC Trust breaking away from their traditional blue and green logo, they have allowed us to use white and gold respectively on the red away and black third jersey to really compliment the aesthetics of the shirt.”

Shaun Hope, the chairman of the PFC Trust, has been involved in local football for a number of years and knows exactly what it means for grassroots sports clubs to receive help.

Shaun said: “This is about two key organisations in Hartlepool working together for the good of Hartlepool to improve life chances of people within the town.

“The PFC Trust sees sport as a vehicle to achieve our aim of doing that because we know how passionate the people are about sport - and none more so than the town’s football club.

“Hartlepool United is so important for the community and we see this as a great partnership, and a nice way to celebrate this partnership is to give the two shirts and season tickets back to the community via a competition.”

To stand a chance of winning the season tickets and Pools’ new shirts just follow and like the PFC Trust on Facebook and Instagram. One winner will be picked at random. Competition closing Monday 5th September.
